Notecard++

Studying, Redefined.

Friday Updates #4: 1.0 and Beyond

It’s here guys! 1.0 is finally out!

In all seriousness, I’m exhausted. Very exhausted. For those who can’t see the writing on the wall like I can, that means I desperately need a break, and I plan to take one.

What does this mean for Notecard++ though?

Well, for starters, it means that if you weren’t part of the Open Beta, Notecard++ now costs $4.99 to own. This is a huge change from before, and also from my original plans. Unfortunately, I actually need money to continue funding development of Notecard++ (and my college education). So for now, we have this arrangement. I will ask a few things of you, the customer, in exchange for buying my app.

First, I ask that you leave an honest review when you’re ready. Yes, I said it. An honest review, not some 5 star Wow! That’s amazing. I want to hear your feedback so that I can keep improving Notecard++, and I’m going to need a lot of it so that I can bring Notecard++ into line with the new standard that I’d like to achieve. I want to (and will develop this app to) be a best in class classroom management software that targets the needs of students, teachers, and schools alike. To accomplish this, it’s going to be a long road, but I believe it will be well worth it.

That means my break is from developing new ideas and sections of the Notecard++ app. I have a major update planned for next year that I will discuss around the time of WWDC25, but I’m only in the planning and design phase for this. Don’t expect me to disappear from the internet, as I’m still reading your comments, and I will make efforts to ensure that your voices as students, teachers, and schools are heard, acknowledged, and incorporated into Notecard++.

I also want to talk about bugs, crashes, and other issues. I ask that should you encounter these things, please tell me through my contact page. The only thing App Store Connect will provide to me is crash reports, but otherwise, I won’t know what you were doing before the crash, or what bug has occurred in the app. While I use it daily, I know there are still bugs to be fixed, and I most likely won’t notice them until long after they’ve shown themselves to others. Please, either report these to me through my contact page, or include them into your App Store Review.

I do ask that should you leave this information in your review, please follow the instructions once I reply back to you. These instructions will ensure for yourself that you can see that the bug is fixed, and you may elect to change your review. I ask that if this app isn’t worth 5 stars to you, then don’t give it that. Give the app however many stars you think it deserves. The reviews are essential to myself and to the customers, not just to show to others that Notecard++ works exceptionally well, but to ensure I know what I could be doing better, and what is doing well.

Let’s talk about AI. I’ve made multiple commitments to no off-device AI in Notecard++, dating back to before this domain was first registered. I intend to honor this promise. I’ve been looking into how Core ML and Apple Intelligence on iPhone, iPad, and Mac could be our ticket into this developing AI world. Quite honestly, I’m impressed by the capabilities of modern hardware. These integrations will not be coming soon, but early plans have been made around them.

The next update for Notecard++ will be version 1.1. 1.1 will fix some bugs discovered in the current version of the app, and is looking to bring a few features that were dropped from the release version to fix bugs.

As always, you can catch up with us in the usual places, such as the comments or Discord. Until next time, redefine the way you study with Notecard++, now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
